Blaine Rd. (SR548) / Birch Bay Linden Rd. Roundabout

TSI developed several roundabout designs as part of a development feasibility study for a commercial site in the southwest quadrant of this intersection.  The anticipated traffic volumes warranted improvements to the existing stop sign controlled intersection and the Washington State Department of Transportation required examination of a roundabout design in place of a traffic signal.  Limited right of way and County policies discouraging condemnation required development of several innovative designs be developed including a dog bone design and an offset design onto the site.  These designs were developed to ensure adherence to WSDOT standards and were reviewed with WSDOT to ensure compliant.  None be designed to fit within the available right of way and adhere to design standards even with allowances for reduce sidewalk and shared bicycle lane standards.
