SR 531 and 43rd Avenue NE
TSI designed the traffic signal at the intersection of 43rd Avenue NE and SR 531 in Arlington, WA. The Whidbey Island Bank project constructed the northbound approach to the existing intersection and widened the south half of SR 531 along the eastbound approach. The channelization plans and traffic signal plans were developed as an interim configuration coordinated with the ultimate lane configuration that would later be built by Walmart. The traffic signal poles were positioned in the ultimate location to accommodate the future widening. Wiring for the final signal configuration was constructed as part of the interim signal installation to minimize future signal modifications. The new traffic signal was interconnected with adjacent signals 1/2 mile to the east and west with fiber optic cable.
