TSI designed a roundabout at the intersection of SR 9 and SR 538. Intersection challenges include three relatively high-speed approaches and five residential or commercial driveways. Our team analyzed an alternative traffic signal improvement located to the west for access to residential development and assisted WSDOT and City of Mount Vernon in selecting the roundabout alternative. TSI was also responsible for roadway channelization and illumination plans. Design of the roundabout was an offshoot of work performed for the Skagit Highlands development.
