31st Avenue S Traffic Calming

31stAvenueTrafficCalmingTSI developed a traffic calming plan based on volume, geometric and collision data and community input to meet Seattle Department of Transportation standards to reduce vehicle speeds and cut-through volumes on 31st Avenue S. We developed the traffic calming plan using a combination of channelization revisions, traffic calming features, and signage. Secondary objectives included community outreach and education to promote understanding of transportation options among residents; and use of social activities and a planning process that reconnects members of the community through a common goal of establishing this main arterial street as a location appropriate for neighborhood access, transit and lower speed through traffic.
